Payroll Accountant

Description:

The Payroll Accountant will report to the Controller.  The Payroll Accountant is responsible for preparing and processing all payroll journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts related to payroll, the monthly financial statement review of accounts related to payroll, as well as reports for workers’ compensation audits. 

The ability to maintain confidentiality especially when dealing with employee records is a requirement for this position.

The Payroll Accountant will demonstrate attention to detail, initiative, commitment to team work, and dependability.

 

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Prepare and process all journal entries related to the payroll function.
  • Reconcile all general ledger accounts related to the payroll function.
  • Review financial statement results related to the payroll function on a monthly basis.
  • Post and apply payroll deductions to employee tool accounts and reconcile to the general ledger and payroll system.
  • Prepare workers’ compensation insurance audits.
  • Assist auditors with annual employee benefit plan audits.
  • Create payroll reports as needed.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager as needed.
  • Special projects as needed and other tasks assigned by management.

Work is normally performed in an office environment and some filing is required.  Some work must be performed in the shop environment with limited exposure to physical risk.  No or very limited physical effort is required for this position.
